Happy 40th Birthday Due West!

In early June, we celebrated Due West’s 40th birthday! We purchased her when she was 10 years old, and are forever grateful to our friend Kate-Kate who put us in touch with the former owner Frank, and for the way that everything in the universe aligned to bring Due West into our lives six months after we first saw her at the Seattle Boat Show… 

A year after Due West became ours, we got married aboard, and the rest is history… three years later we raced her to Maui with a crew of six friends in the 1996 Vic-Maui Yacht Race. And Six years after that we moved aboard full-time. We’ve now been full-time liveaboards for 20 years…

Oh, the places she’s taken us, and the fun times we’ve had… including getting married aboard 29 years ago, racing the Elliott Bay Marina Downtown Sailing Series for 10 years, sailing and cruising with friends in the San Juans and Gulf Islands of Canada, and all our more recent adventures from Seattle to Mexico!

Thank you, Bob Perry, we have never seen another boat we would trade her for. Due West, you’re a one-in-a-million gal! Thanks for being our sea-kindly, safe, and beautiful home… we love you!!
